Pirarubicin is an anthracycline antineoplastic agent that is a semisynthetic derivative of doxorubicin. It intercalates into DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, disrupting DNA replication and transcription. It shows comparable antitumor activity to doxorubicin with potentially reduced cardiotoxicity. Mediocon Inc manufactures Pirarubicin API at its GMP-certified facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India.
